Spring is almost officially here! It is seriously my favorite season of the year. In Austin, we get the most beautiful weather in March and April. Just before the heat hits us in May we get to enjoy the sunny days in the 70s and mild temperatures. Its perfection!
I also find myself hitting up the makeup isles at Ulta a little more frequently than my norm (which let’s be honest, my norm is already pretty frequent 😉 I love shopping and testing all the new products Ulta Beauty offers and seeing and swatching all the new launches from my favorite brands. I can get lost in that store for hours, anyone relate? I’m not sure what it is about Ulta, but I feel like a kid in a candy store, who can’t refrain from touching EVERYTHING! Hah! I love seeing new makeup trends in the collateral and on the displays, and love how Ulta has everything you need to create your own beauty, and make the trends your own.
The trend I wanted to share, is the one that reflects my personal style, minimal and classic. The Minimalist Smokey Eye. Paired with flawless, but natural looking skin, and soft rosy cheeks and lips is what I consider to be a timeless look.
I start with a lightweight radiant foundation like the NARS Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation. What I love about this foundation, is its long wearing, gives a subtle radiance to the skin and just makes the skin look healthy, hydrated and flawless. It gives a buildable coverage, is transfer and sweatproof (Hello my Fellow Texans, this one has you covered even in Summer!).
I like to add a soft highlight with the Makeup Revolution Bake and Blot Powder, because it gives the most subtle brightness, blurs texture and does not leave the skin looking overly powdered.
For the eyes, I fall back to my classic signature eye look (that also happens to be a go to for Spring makeup trends)… the Minimal Smokey Eye. I love this look because you can wear it day or night. You look polished and minimal enough for the office, or preschool drop off, and yet you still look put together enough for an evening event, you can even add false lashes to glam it up. I seriously consider this to the be the most versatile makeup trend you can wear! I achieved my look by using the Anastasia Beverly Hills Soft Glam Palette. Line the eyes with your favorite deep eyeliner of choice, I used the Benefit Roller Liner in Black and then softened the line with a deep matte shadow from the palette.
For lips you can really go any direction you choose. The eyes are minimal enough for something bold, yet enhanced enough for something more on the softer side. I chose a rosy, glossy nude for my look.
And last, adding the finishing touch of a setting spray like the Urban Decay All Nighter will give you additional hours of worry free wear. This is a step I often forget to do, yet every time I do, the results are noticeably better in how my makeup lasts throughout the day. I have tried many setting sprays over the years and I find this one to be the best to really lock in your makeup.
I’ve linked all the additional products I used to create the look down below.
