Today we are testing a few new products I picked up from Sephora. I am focusing on a review and wear test for the Makeup Forever Reboot Foundation and I am wearing shade Y305. It was strange going out to Sephora for the first time since the quarantine! I got so excited to shop and I also got a cute blush by Kaja– it’s a cute stamp blush. I also got a mini NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in the shade Custard. I got a few new hair products as well and I am going to share the OFRA bronzer and I am also loving their new blush as well.
I start this look with my eye cream and the Elta MD SPF– it has a slight tint to it. I haven’t needed a lot of foundation since I did my skin peel. Today we’ll try the Makeup Forever Reboot Foundation. This foundation retails for $39, has 24 shades, and is described as a skin revitalizing foundation. It hydrates, smooths, helps with wrinkles over time because it is hydrating. The more dry your skin is the more obvious the benefits are. This foundation is normal to dry skin, however it is not great for oily skin. It is described as having light coverage. Hopefully we get some good coverage! This bottle is just over 1 oz. and comes with a pump which is really nice. It looks kind of dark but because it has light coverage it will likely sheer out.
I start with one pump on my hand, the consistency is more on the watery, liquid consistency but not too much. I used my BK Beauty 106 Round Foundation Brush to apply it. It has a very light and sheer coverage. And it has a scent to it that kind of smells like a plant! Maybe spearmint or eucalyptus, it’s very crisp and clean. It’s super easy to blend because it’s on the sheer side. This foundation definitely looks and feels hydrating. Because it is sheer, I use a second pump. The more light and sheer a foundation is the less pigment it has and this is good because it gives you flexibility in the shade and you need to use more if you want more coverage. It doesn’t claim to be a buildable foundation so when you are building foundation it is good to apply a light sheer layer, wait and let it set, and then go back in again. If you apply all at once it wont look natural and you won’t get the coverage you want because you didn’t give the product time to set.
Next, I apply concealer. I got the mini NARS Radiant Concealer. I remember loving this product when I first started YouTube, then I started buying more products and forgot what I loved. It’s interesting to go back to an old product and remember when I loved about it. It’s lighter than most of the full coverage concealers I’ve gotten used to wearing over the years. Sigma F79 Concealer Brush– one of my favorites! It is perfect. I use the brush to press the product under my eye. I love the color of this concealer, there is some yellow brightness and does a great job of highlighting under the eye. Under the eye is another area I’ve noticed that if I go to heavy with product it does not look good at the end of the day. After setting for a moment I notice that the foundation looks very natural. Reminds me of of FACE Atelier Foundation that I love. It has a nice satin finish, not as much coverage but almost there. So beautiful!
I set this look with the Pat McGrath Labs Skinfetish Sublime Perfection Setting Powder. I like this powder because it’s lightweight and doesn’t alter the look of a radiant finish foundation. I am using a very light veil because I don’t want to cancel out the satin finish. I avoid the apples of my cheek because I use a cream blush.
For bronzer I use my new favorite bronzer the Samantha March collaboration with Ofra bronzer and highlight. The texture is so velvety and soft! And you get a lot of pigment. I use the BK Beauty 107 Flat Blush Brush. I dust the bronzer along the hairline. It would work as a blush as well because it is a bronzy apricot color.
The Kaja Blendable Blush Cheeky Stamp is literally a stamp! It is a cushiony blush and you have heart shaped stamp and you stamp directly to your cheeks! It’s so cute! I am blending the blush out with the BK Beauty 107 Flat Blush Brush. You have to work quickly because the product sets quickly. I love this color!
Summary of My Thoughts
1 PM: the foundation has had plenty of time to set and looks super natural, doesn’t accentuate texture on the skin, the only place is the eyes but I think I applied too much concealer, and I didn’t freshly moisturized. The foundation itself looks really nice! Usually if a foundation is too heavy I see a buildup between my eyes but this looks smooth and beautiful!
5:15 PM: I just left target and since applying I touched up about an hour later to film another video with some powder. Everything looks really good and it doesn’t seem to be settling in anywhere. Looks as good as to be expected. Texture is showing a little in my pores and under my eyes. Even with my mask on for an hour, it didn’t transfer too much. At this point things are looking good. Not oily or shiny, I thought I would touch up more. 4 hours and 85 and humid. So far, so good. Im really liking it!
8:48 PM: 9 hours of wear, I touched up around 2, and I have been out of the house and ran an errand, is it perfect? No, there are some areas that are always my trouble areas like around the nose, some build-up and settling in some texture in my pores. Overall, I think the foundation looks pretty good and if I were to compare to other satin finish, after 9 hours of wear and very little touchup it looks great. I didn’t use a primer, if I did I would have more wearability. It is dewier than other mattes, but overall looks great. Doesn’t look dewy or cakey and I like it! I think it is a foundation I will mix into my rotation for foundations.
Have you tried this foundation? Let me know what you think! xoxo
